Should you always be compassionate?
I received a letter this week from a student learning Proactive Communication skills. The student was frustrated because the skills were not coming as easy and fast as she would enjoy. She would still become angry instantly and then try to use the communication skills I taught her.
I have been there in that place of frustration and angst, wanting to be that perfect compassionate person. I’ve been studying these skills and consciousness for many years. I even teach them daily to others. Yet some days I lose my compassionate consciousness. Well, I judge myself that I have. I tell people of these non-compassionate events and I see shock on their face. Because I teach these skills, they expect me to be perfect, on a pedestal. Ha, that is a laugh.
